Dean Oliver, OLV Investment GroupSince 1975, when Dean Oliver entered this business, the needs of the client remain his primary passion. As you and Dean get to know each other, he can customize and help you choose strategies that fit your retirement and estate needs. His lifelong commitment to pursing insights into the industry keeps him current, allowing him to be well versed in communicating with you, and working with you, in your planning. His sincerity, quiet grace, and simplistic view of obstacles tries to hide the skill of thoroughness he exemplifies while working for your interests.

Dean’s memberships include the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors, the National Association of Life Underwriters, and the Planned Giving Round Table of SE Michigan. He was a student at Rochester College (formerly Michigan Christian College) and is an alumnus of Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. Dean Oliver acquired his Certified Wealth Strategist designation through Cannon Financial Institute, based in Athens, Georgia and is also an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) He enrolls in continuing education classes every year and regularly attends numerous financial, investment and estate planning conferences.

Dean, and his wife, Zan, have been married 43 years and live in Goodrich, MI. They have four children, 14 grandchildren, and are active members of the Bristol Road Church of Christ in Flint.

Joel LaGore received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, with honors, from Oakland University. His desire for knowledge fueled his quest to earn additional designations like the CFP and CRPC. His evolving education fosters his skill in advising in the areas of Financial Planning, Estate Planning, Insurance Planning, College Funding Analysis, and Portfolio Management. As well, his educational and experiential base remains a great source of info for writing a monthly article for MyCity Magazine.

Joel’s zest for life and his enthusiasm for all that can be good in the financial industry brings out his charisma and his natural ability to lead. His positive energy is a constant encouragement and drives his visionary views. As a client and as a friend, you will be contacted on a continual basis. Joel knows that life brings change and wants to be aware of your needs or developments. He is persistent in keeping the lines of communication open so he is willing to check in with you once a week, once a month or whatever works best for you.

Joel & Sonya LaGore and their two daughters live in Flushing, MI and attend Flushing Community Church. His highest goals are undergirded by his philanthropic desires. His focus on giving back to his community can be seen by his involvement as a coach for a travel basketball team and his commitment helping at his church. He is a committee member of the Flushing Advisory Fund and seeks involvement in internationally focused non-profits which includes traveling internationally to serve as needed in various orphanages.

As a licensed financial advisor, Jesse VanValin’s intense work ethic guides his relentless pursuit of solutions to the struggles we all face in making investment decisions. He channels his eagerness into researching and investigating companies, trends, and patterns in the market in order to provide the best possible options that he can for individual clients. Jesse works closely with you and your retirement goals seeking to deliver a workable, well thought out plan.

Jesse’s background as a carpenter, real estate agent, and property manager allows him to bring a unique perspective to the table. He fights for the success of every man and his ability to relate on a personal level with clients from all types of backgrounds fosters his attentive personal service. He is a University of Michigan, Flint graduate with a degree in finance and continues to work as an alumni in promoting scholarships for business management students.

Jesse VanValin and his wife Libby have three daughters. They are active members of Bethany Baptist Church and reside in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Sonya-LaGore-OLV-Investment-GroupAs the recently appointed CEO of OLV Investment Group, Sonya LaGore is passionate about helping others live up to their God given protentional. She is honored and humbled to have the role and opportunity to pour into others’ lives. In doing so, Sonya holds the staff accountable while drawing upon their personal strengths and bringing out the best of each one on the team.

Sonya LaGore earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Rochester College, gained years of experience in management and marketing research, then went on to earn her securities licenses. She understands the business world along with the ins and outs of the financial industry. She comprehends the numbers and anticipates the necessary processes and procedures the investment office demands. While balancing all the internal and external operational variables, she can organize the fine details providing a structured environment where tasks get done and projects accomplished. She strives for growth of the company, as a whole, as well as growth of each individual, being unified to provide excellent service, and being generous with all that is entrusted to us.

Her leadership skills carry over into the relationships she has with multiple organizations. Her role as a committee member on the Flushing Area Community Fund led to a similar opportunity to serve concurrently as a board trustee on the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. She also serves as the Past-Chair for Gen Forward. In addition to working to improve her community, and Genesee County as a whole, she helps area kids in need receive bedroom makeovers as a board trustee of Zoie Sky. As well, she is an active volunteer at church helping within the Spiritual Formation Team.

Sonya raises her two daughters with husband, Joel LaGore, balancing her family and work undergirded by her faith and her spirit of giving.

For as many years as Dean has provided financial service, Zan has been by his side. However, don’t be misled by her preference to work behind the scenes. Her creativity really shines through the many personalized design pieces created for OLV. Her ability to always add to the creative process brings about the best design possibilities. Her responsibilities with the marketing team demonstrate her desire for you to see OLV on a personal level, as she helps to create meaningful ways to communicate through cards, invitations and brochures.

As well, she pours out her warm welcoming spirit as she leads the Hospitality team. If she is working on an external client outing like a seminar or a special event, you will sense she planned with you in mind. The same holds true for her generous internal planning for the staff. Her heart beats for this company and whether you are a friend, guest or a stranger you will feel her outpouring of love.

Libby VanValin | President of Culture and Communication

As a partner of OLV Investment Group, Libby plays a critical role by performing numerous tasks such as team building, communication, community connection, conducting interviews and handling internal paperwork.

Libby creates an atmosphere of belonging at OLV through her efforts in organizing weekly bible studies, inviting guest speakers, administrating Operation Christmas Child and other charitable work. She also organizes internal events to help build culture and relationship within the company. Libby holds a degree in Health Education and she engages herself in research to provide assistance in human resources regarding benefits and communication. Libby also leads the way in understanding and teaching a personality profile tool used at OLV called DISC reports. She strives to grow in her knowledge of this and share that with all incoming employees, as well as anyone in the community, interested to learn more.

Libby and her husband have three daughters. They are active members of Bethany Baptist Church and reside in Grand Blanc, MI.
